ATTENTION
ALL OUT OF STATE EXHIBITORS:
The Texas Animal Health Commission, beginning, April
1, 2009, will require breeding bulls entering Texas from
ANY OTHER STATE to be:
-
24 months of age or younger, and certified as a virgin
OR
-
be tested negative for cattle trichomoniasis within 30
days prior to entry
How does this affect your show plans? (It ONLY affects
you if you are coming in from out of Texas!)
-
Junior & Senior Yearling Bulls: this shouldn't affect
you at all, as long as your yearlings haven't been used for
breeding;
they will be certified as virgins when your vet comes out
to do
your health certificate
-
Two
Year Old Bulls: if your bull is <24 months old, and
hasn't been put with heifers yet, this won't affect you--he'll
be certified
as a virgin when your vet comes out to do
your health certificate; if your bull is >24 months
old AND/OR has been put with heifers, you'll need to have
him tested when your vet comes
out to do
your health certificate
-
Mature Bulls: must be tested for Trich when your
vet comes out to do your health certificate
Have your Trich testing paperwork and/or virgin
certification ready when checking in at the show
site
